How to create a QR code

A useful little tool. A surprisingly simple process.

01 / CREATE

Give it something to share

Copy decimal latitude and longitude from a trusted map.

02 / CUSTOMIZE

Make it feel like you

Enter latitude first (−90 to 90), then longitude (−180 to 180).

03 / SHARE

Download. Scan. Connect.

Scan and verify the map pin points to the intended entrance or meeting spot.

ONE TOOL, MANY WAYS TO CONNECT

How Map location QR codes work

A location QR code stores latitude and longitude in a geo URI. A supported reader can pass the coordinates to a mapping application. It represents a point, not a postal address or live device location.

Practical ways to use it

  • Share a trail meeting point where street addresses are unclear.
  • Mark the entrance to an event venue.
  • Give visitors the precise pickup point for a tour.

How to scan it

Scan with a reader that supports geo links, then select a mapping app. Some iOS readers do not handle geo links; use a URL QR linking to a map page for a broader audience.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Swapping latitude and longitude can point to a completely different place.
  • Degrees/minutes/seconds must be converted to decimal degrees.
  • A map pin does not guarantee safe access or a suitable route.

Test your QR code before sharing

Keep a clear border around the code, use strong contrast, and test the final file on more than one phone. A beautiful code is only useful if it scans. Read the QR code design guide for logo and color choices, or check QR print sizes and file formats before ordering a print run.
